Seal Hunting in Canada

Canada is a beautiful country and people want to visit it. According to the Corporate Canada’s website
(www.corporate.canada.travel.html), Canada attracts about 17.4 million people per year!

One horrible reason why some visitors come to Canada is to hunt seals for sport. Hunting seals is prohibited in most of the countries in the world. For that reason, hunters from foreign countries come to Canada for the seal hunt.

Aside from the sporting event, there are two other reasons for these dreadful killings: first, there is a high demand for seal fur from such famous fashion labels as Prada and Dolce & Gabbana and second, the Canadian government believes that the seal population is too high and a reduction of the seal population would not harm it or ruin the ecosystem.

The seal slaughter is incredibly cruel and, according to PETA, threatens the survival of many seal species. The seal killings mainly serve as to furnish the human desire for vanity and luxury.

When the seal hunt is on, innocent seals are killed under inhumane conditions. Their heads are smashed with wooden bats. They are skinned alive, and their skin is sold. Seal babies are murdered within two weeks of their birth.
