Trouble Spots in the World Today

The twenty-first century is no stranger to world conflicts, and the UN is front-and-centre in trying to resolve them. The way that problems are resolved in the real UN is the same way that the delegates of JMUN 2007 are going to resolve the conflicts that come up between nations during the conference.

What is actually happening in the world? Below are some pictures taken in some of the places in the world where there are profound human difficulties. Know about the world’s problems as you participate in JMUN 2007!

This picture shows a program of medical outreach presided over by UN peacekeepers in Kopo, Liberia. Since the country has acute problem of inadequate and inefficient medical facilities, United Nations military medical teams from China and Pakistan travel to rural areas to administer health care.

The war in Sudan has caused many to become victims of war. They receive medicine and blankets from the UN Children's Fund and food from the UN World Food Program and World Vision.
