Anzoategui International Schools Participate in JMUN 2007

This year sees the first appearance of Escuela Anaco and QSI El Tigre at the JMUN Conference held by the Colegio Internacional de Caracas. Escuela Anaco has participated in SAMUN for the last three years but makes its first appearance at JMUN 2007. JMUN 2007 marks the first MUN ever for QSI El Tigre

The main thing that has kept the EVAC (Eastern Venezuelan American Schools Conference) schools from participating in JMUN was a scheduling conflict with the EVAC forensics event. Happily though, because of the bold vision of Escuela Anaco director Bill Kralovec, the EVAC calendar has been changed. The forensics event will take place in May.

CIPLC (Colegio Internacional de Puerto La Cruz) has come to JMUN before, but its middle school has had to miss forensics, but now all of the EVAC schools can experience the glory of both events.

All the EVAC directors agree that this is a great educational experience for their kids. Mr. George Gostovich from EA said, “You can explain what happens at a model UN ten thousand times to your kids, but they won’t really understand until they participate in one.” David Becvar from CIPLC agreed, “This is a great way to get kids ready for the actual SAMUN.” Angela Adez from QSI was just happy to get her kids out of El Tigre, “Our kids don’t get a chance to socialize in large groups very often, so this is a great opportunity for them.”

As of break time on Day One, all the delegates were very excited about their resolutions and were looking forward to merging, submitting, debating, and all kinds of JMUN fun.
