Dear Elementary School Parents,
We write today to share with you our International event for this school year. We are planning an International Green Day at CIC. This event will take place, Wednesday March, 28th 2012.
This year, we will approach the event with the theme of Reduce-Reuse-Recycle. Our rotation of student-centered events will revolve around 3 academic subjects: Maths, Science and Arts. We are truly doing our best to support a clean and safe environment and become aware of the importance of taking care of our planet. Our dedicated group of teachers and room mothers are working very hard in order to come up with excellent ideas and initiatives that will promote GOING GREEN!
We invite all ES students to come to school wearing the “Green Team” t-shirt our SS students sold at the beginning of the school year. You will be able to purchase these t-shirts in the ES office.

If you have ideas and suggestions, please stop by my office, I would love to hear from you.

The CIC Concert band will take the audience through a musical journey, performing music of these great composers from different periods, such as Handel, Pachelbel, Tchaivskovsky, Beethoven, Jose Feliciano, ABBA, Freddy Mercury from Queen, and the Rolling Stones.

Review of SAMUN XXII

For four days students from all over Venezuela stood in the shoes of those diplomats who look after the interests of the world in one of the great institutions of humanity we call the United Nations. And a great job they did of it! By the end of SAMUN XXII, delegates representing the countries of the world addressed the most pressing problems having to do with the environment and natural resources.

In the various General Assemblies resolutions were passed for the betterment of the world: SAMUN XXII banned cyanide fishing, it reduced CO2 in the atmosphere, and it put in place policies to manage scarce natural resources. The Security Council passed resolutions dealing with possible terrorist attacks on energy installations, on the elimination of child soldiers in zones of conflict, and on the problem of India and Pakistan’s refusal to sign the non-proliferation agreement.

Many of the events of SAMUN XXII are recorded in the Samundo, the electronic magazine produced by some students in the school, especially Sofia Terife, who acted as Editor-in-Chief, and Christi Castañeda, who was the Chief Reporter. These students are to be commended for their superb efforts in this regard. A lot of thanks go out to a lot of people for the success of the event. Most specifically, Mr. Charles Tetreault and Virginia Manoyan deserve a huge vote of thanks for the titanic effort they put forth to make SAMUN XXII the great success that it was.

Hello everyone!!! Please remember that next Saturday, October 29th, we will be celebrating our famous Halloween Carnival. Join us for a fun day full of games, prizes, tombola, raffle, trick or treat, treasure hunt, costume parade and contest, great food and lots more! Show your school spirit by supporting CIC´s PSTA in this important fund-raising event. Invite your family and friends from outside CIC as well – the more the merrier! Entrance fee is BsF.10 and Cards of 10 tickets each are BsF.50. If you haven’t sent in your contribution of prizes and candy, please do so as soon as possible. We’ll see you Saturday from 02:00 to 06:00 pm.

The CIC Book Fair is Coming Soon!!!

Our Book Fair will take place from Monday, October 17 to Wednesday 19 , from 7:30 to 2:00 PM in the Secondary Library.

The publishers representatives will be available all the time to help students choose the books they want to buy and to fill in some wish cards to send to parents , with the books the children would like to buy. If parents agree they just send the check for the amount of Bolivares needed.

There will be a time table for Elementary students to visit with their classroom teacher. Secondary and Middle School students can come at any free time they have, at advisory, or at lunch time.

We will also have a story teller and we will plan an event with her for all our Elementary students.
