Grade 5 Promotion

On June 4, 2010 the fifth grade class was promoted to sixth grade. The ceremony included musical performances by the fifth graders as directed by Mr. Ibsen Rosales. Summer Camp Reminder!

Remember that CIC’s Summer Camp starts Monday, June 14th and runs until Friday July 2nd. This camp offers a variety of activities for learning while having a lot of fun. Practice your English while you role play and sing songs. Make musical instruments and then learn how to play them. Make crafts using paint and colors. Exercise, run and play games. Come meet new people. Take a look at pictures from last year’s summer camp!

Kindergarten Promotion

On May 28, 2010 CIC’s kindergarten class was promoted to first grade. The ceremony featured a wonderful performance of song and dance directed by Mr. Ibsen Rosales. Fine Arts Week, 2010

On May 5, 2010, the Fine Arts Department celebrated Fine Arts Week, the main event of this season at CIC.

Fine Arts Week is the culmination of many weeks of hard work from CIC students. Cooperating between grades, it is a wonderful occasion in which students to come together and showcase their talents. Moreover, this event provides the unique opportunity for all the sections of the Fine Arts Department to work together to produce a program featuring visual arts in conjunction with choral and instrumental music. Congratulations to all the students who dedicated themselves to making this evening a success!

VANAS Sports Tournament

This past week, CIC hosted the VANAS Boys Soccer and Girls Basketball tournament. Despite a few hiccups with no school or spectators allowed, the event was a success due to the efforts from many helpful people. The CIC boys were able to pull out a hard fought and well deserved third place. While the girls finished 5th, their spirit and teamwork helped them earn the sportsmanship award for the basketball tournament. Congratulations to all of the participants, volunteers, and spectators who helped to create the best VANAS tournament of the year! CIC is proud of its wonderful community. Go BEARS! Semana Santa in Europe

Between the days of March 26-April 4, a select group of parents, administrators, teachers, and students of the Colegio Internacional de Caracas journeyed to Europe to visit the old and important cities of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, an empire ruled for more than 700 years by the Hapsburg dynasty. The leading figures of the dynasty were instrumental in shaping the great civilized society of eastern and central Europe, and they left, as their legacy to humanity, the groundwork for great cities, celebrated centers of art and culture, and a wide variety of accomplishments in the fields of military arts, philosophy, ethics, and the natural and social sciences.

On a Lufthansa flight by way of Frankfurt, we arrived Saturday evening in Prague, the city on the banks of the Moldava River, the city of one hundred towers and five hundred cupolas. From there we travelled to Vienna where we became acquainted with history of the great city, including the living quarters of the now famous lovers, Emperor Franz Joseph and his consort, Sisi. The final stop on our itinerary was Budapest, the so-called “Pearl of the Danube,” the city of venerable bridges and the birthplace of freedom for the nations of eastern Europe.

Our return trip was filled with feelings of excitement, pleasant memories, and longings.

Elementary School Spanish Drama

The Elementary School Spanish Drama Club entertained both the young and the young at heart with their rendition of the play, “La Cena de Tío Tigre” on Friday, January 29, 2010. Weeks of hard work and practice were evident as the actors kept the audience laughing from beginning to end. Congratulations to Gabi Gonzalez, Irma Oñate and the entire Spanish Drama Club for a wonderful performance. Photos of the performance are in the photo gallery.
