History Revision Notes - GCSE
GCSE revision notes on a wide variety of subjects. Bypass the e-commerce element for a short but sweet collection of revision resources.

Imperial War Museum
Look at powerful photographic images and read succinct text concerning major conflicts since 1914. Informative exhibitions show how to make secret codes, or users can listen to sound files of soldiers talking about their experiences.

Medieval History in the Movies
Hollywood regularly plunders history for inspiration. This site records several hundred films with some claim to an historical basis. Alongside basic directorial and cast information there are comments on their historical reliability.

Medieval Realms
This round-up of surviving medieval castles and abbeys from around the UK is very helpful for the key stage 3 medieval realms unit. Also find out why the peasants revolted and how the Black Death killed its victims.

Private Art: WWII Letters to and from Home

An excellent and thorough site produced by a history teacher for year 7 up to IB level. British and world history are covered with worksheets, quizzes and lessons. Highly recommended.

Spartacus Educational
Highly recommended for GCSE students studying child labour, parliamentary reform, WW1 and Vietnam. There is also a very comprehensive encyclopedia of British history from 1700-1900.

The Great War 1914-1918
A well-designed site, providing in-depth treatment of key events in the Great War, including the second battle of Ypres and Western front. It also has a selection of poems, war graves and background on the 'last post'.

The History Channel UK Classroom
This wide-ranging history site covers many topics, such as the Russian revolution, Henry VIII and Pol Pot. There are also hints on exams and revision.

The Open Door Website
Read up on history subjects in this easy to understand history topics database - from 'Industrialisation' to 'Colonisation'. The 'Events' section contains chronologies and timelines which help place facts in time and relate them to each other.

The Russian Revolution
A timeline of the Russian revolution, 1917, and a brief account of some key individuals and events. Designed with high school students in mind as an introduction and revision tool.

Treaty of Versailles
Includes the complete text of the Treaty of Versailles as well as a suggested bibliography, maps, charts, photographs and cartoons. An excellent revision resource.

Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga
