Dear Parents: We would like to inform you of the activities we will have during the 2009-2010 school year:

1. WELCOME BACK BBQ (September 12, 2009 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM). This event is to welcome all parents and families to the new school year. Admission is free and we will have food for sale. During this event you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with parents, teachers and students of your child’s grade.
2. HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL (October 31, 2009 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM) (requires participation from students, parents and teachers). This event is organized with the Senior Class. Funds collected are for the PSTA and a percentage of the profit is given to the Seniors. The Halloween Carnival is the largest event celebrated during the year; there are many attractions for the children. . We charge for admission and the games. We really need help for an hour from parents, teachers and students. The Grade 6 to 11 students that help will receive community service hours duly authorized by the Administration and Teachers.

We will inform you of the other events as the year progresses since the dates are subject to change.

We would like to resume the activities listed below, if you are interested in any of them please contact us:

Cultural or fun trips: We would choose a place of interest where we can spend some time after dropping off the children at school. Diana Mederos is responsible for coordinating these outings.

Talks: If you know someone that can come and give us a talk on a topic of interest to parents or propose a topic, please contact us.

English Language Classes: We will contact an English teacher Hanmdy Briceño 0426-5142764 and you can arrange for classes (costs, etc.) with her directly.

Lunch Group: We organize lunches once a month either a pot luck at school where everyone brings a dish or meet at a restaurant. Another option is to have the lunch at someone’s home (pot luck also). This is a fun way to get to know everyone and to make our CIC family stronger. If anyone is interested in coordinating the monthly lunches let us know.

Exercise Class: Every morning from 8:00 AM on. We are a group of parents that walk around the field, do exercises, play tennis or any other sport, either directed or on our own. If you are interested do not hesitate to join us.

Dancercise Classes: Ms. Minerva gives Dancercise classes in the dance studio below our gym. These classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 AM. There is a cost of Bs. 10.00 per class which you pay at the end of each class.

School Lunch Menu: If you would like to help in improving our student’s nutrition, you may join the committee of parents and teachers led by Ms. Livia Torres. This committee will be in charge of making sure our canteen food keeps improving and teaching our children to eat a balanced meal.

We will keep you informed either via email or folder of future events whose dates are still pending. Be sure to check the school’s website under PSTA since you can always find updated information about ongoing events.
