I.B. Music

International Baccalaureate Music is an general music class for highly dedicated young musicians. The content of I.B. Music includes solo performance, group performance, music theory, music history, world music genres, and composition.  CIC offers standard level and higher level I.B. Music; talk to your counselor or Mr. Stewart for more information about standard and higher level I.B. Music.

Second-year I.B. Music students produce a Musical Investigation Paper and take the I.B. Listening test for grading by the I.B. Organization.  Second-year students also produce/complete a solo recital, composition and/or group performance which is graded at CIC and moderated by the I.B. Organization.  First-year students investigate the individual strengths and areas for improvement in their musical talents, as well as develop the tools to complete their second-year assessment tasks.

All 10th grade Band students are encouraged to take Music as their I.B. Subject Six.  Students taking string, guitar, piano or voice lessons outside of school are also eligible.   Students considering taking I.B. Music should speak with or send e-mail to Mr. Stewart in order to enroll during their 11th grade year.
