CIC: The International School of Caracas

History

AyA was founded in 1984 by Ms. Maritza Crespo, who was a students' resource teacher at CIC, specialized in learning disabilities. When she has left in 1996, Ms. Christiano Camacho, the former Assistant teacher of AyA and an IB coordinator, took the charge of the club for 1 year. In 1997, it was handed to Ms. Onalis Velasquez, who is the current AyA coordinator.

Through these 20 years of active interaction with the community, we have established strong ties with number of orphanages and facilities that are associated with community service. New activities are being added to annual plan of AyA activities, and AyA has become a school's large event that involves not only the student members but the whole school community.

In spite of interference of the schedule by the political situation in the country, and thus decrease of students in the school, AyA still actively functions to help the local community, as it maintains and creates new friendships among them.
