The Green Team is an Environmental Service Club that was created by a group of students were were interested in helping CIC become more sustainable.  Its goals include:

  • To create awareness on some of the major environmental issues
  • To reduce the schools impact on deforestation and climate change
  • To create awareness of the importance of biodiversity through environmental games

Some of the projects that students have been involved in include:

  • Restructuring the Recycle Program to include all MYP students
  • Improving the butterfly garden
  • Reestablishing Composting at CIC
  • Awareness Campaigns with the IB Green t-shirts and assembly presentations

GIN

CIC students participated in the first annual GIN Conference in the Americas in Lima Peru in October 2011. CIC has been invited to attend the second annual GIN conference that will take place in Sao Paulo Brazil in October 2012.

GINs are groups of students and teachers, working internationally, to develop solutions for global issues. GINs challenge students and teachers to immerse themselves in a chosen issue and to interact with peers and other international collaborators to create networks, think and act critically, creatively, and innovatively toward creating solutions to address real-world global issues.  The key ideas are based on the book High Noon- 20 Global Problems, 20 Years to Solve Them by Jean Francois Rischard:
